Short Description
Certified EFCT therapist working with couples and individuals. I help people understand the patterns that keep them stuck and rebuild connection, with others and with themselves.
Description of Practice
Hello, I'm Robert. I'm a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFCT) working with individuals and couples in Marin and throughout California.

Couples often come to me feeling stuck in the same argument, disconnected, or unsure whether repair is possible. EFCT is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand the cycle you're caught in and rebuild trust and connection. I have advanced training and experience with couples affected by ADHD, couples healing from betrayal or infidelity, and male couples seeking an affirming and experienced therapist.

With individuals, I work with both men and women navigating anxiety, overwhelm, and the lasting effects of difficult experiences. We first address what feels most overwhelming so you can find your footing. From there, we go deeper into the emotional patterns and old hurts that shape how you feel and relate to others. My work draws on AEDP, a well-researched relational approach rooted in attachment theory, along with Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work and practical tools for steadying things now.

My connection to Marin runs deep: I grew up here, and before becoming a therapist I spent 20 years at Canal Alliance in San Rafael supporting the immigrant community through education and economic development. That experience still shapes how I listen and how I understand the ways life circumstances and family history shape us.

I see all of my clients on Zoom. Learn more at https://www.robertjacksontherapy.com, or schedule a free consultation directly on my calendar. I look forward to hearing from you.
