Marin CAMFT's Trauma Resources Team

This effort has historically been called the Trauma Response Team; our revised focus on Trauma Resources is now reflected in the new name of the group.

The TRT meets on the third Friday of the month at 11:00am

All Marin CAMFT members are welcome to attend.

Please RSVP at least 2 days prior to bethleibmft@gmail.com, so she can get you the Zoom link.

Questions about these and other initiatives that Marin CAMFT is doing within our community of therapists? Please reach out to our Community Services Director Katharine Spencer at community@marincamft.org

How to Participate

Marin CAMFT members can participate in several ways:

  1. Join us in the formulation and coordination of these activities at our monthly TRT meetings - details at the top of this page.
  2. Join a peer consultation group - fill out the interest form
  3. Join a peer led vicarious trauma support group - fill out the interest form
  4. Tell us about good local trauma-informed resources so others can benefit from what’s available in our community as we will share on this website (e.g. support groups, service organizations, yoga classes, dance classes). Or tell us about trauma related apps, videos, podcasts, especially those for teens, BIPOC, LGBTQ, Hispanic and other cultural and ethnic communities. Please share these with Kathy Ries at  KathyRiesMFT@gmail.com or Katharine Spencer at community@marincamft.org

Be sure to check out the Trauma Resources that this team has compiled for the Marin community.

Fall 2024 Update from Marin CAMFT's Trauma Resources Team

A Significant Transition

Through the course of 2022-2023,  it became clear that to respond as a mental health professional in a disaster or critical incident, one has to be part of an organization that has official authority to deploy volunteers, such as Marin Medical Reserve Corps (MMRC) under the auspices of Marin County or the Red Cross. The TRT team therefore transitioned away from being a Response team, but if you’re interested in participating as a mental health professional in disaster or critical incident responses either locally, regionally or nation-wide, please reach out to the organizations listed below.

Marin CAMFT’s TRT needed to reinvent itself as it was no longer a response team.  After many discussions, the group decided to become a Trauma Resource Team to support Marin CAMFT members.  A survey/questionnaire was crafted to assess membership interest in trauma-related education, resources, peer consultation groups and vicarious trauma peer support groups.

Current Marin CAMFT members are invited to complete the Marin CAMFT Trauma Resources Team Interest Form and the TRT will be in touch with you. Not currently a member of our chapter? Please consider joining and then we would love to have you participate in these opportunities.

A New Name and Mission

Thus, the Marin CAMFT Trauma Response Team became the Trauma Resource Team (TRT).

Our mission is to provide trauma resources and support to Marin CAMFT professionals working with trauma survivors and their families, by coordinating trauma peer consultation groups and peer-led support groups for therapists experiencing vicarious trauma. Marin CAMFT is also organizing book groups which have a trauma focus. To learn more, please see the contact info below.

New Activities

With the significant assistance of Katharine Spencer, Marin CAMFT Director for Community Services, the TRT is in the process of launching these new activities.  There’s lots of opportunity for your participation - please just let us know what you’re interested in and someone will follow up.
