This event is offered by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (California state CAMFT), with registration available through our Marin CAMFT chapter. This presentation is free to all pre-licensed trainees and associates whether Marin CAMFT members or not, and to all Marin CAMFT members of any licensure level. Attendance in full qualifies for 3 CEs with payment of $10 admin fee.

Note: Marin CAMFT will be having our standard Friday Free CE event on this same day, April 12th from 12:30 to 2:30pm (The Grammar of Therapy at the Borderlands: A Decolonial Spanglish Perspective for English-Based/Trained Therapists). We decided to also provide this pre-licensed event from State CAMFT that day, because we want to support our pre-licensed community. You could make it a full day of training!

    CAMFT Road to Licensure

    Workshop Description

This expanded three-hour presentation will provide attendees with an overview of the laws and regulations applicable to pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy. Topics to be discussed include the marriage and family therapy licensing process, supervised experience requirements for applicants, supervisor qualifications, licensing examinations, and common employment issues pre-licensees may encounter with their employers.

    Educational Goals

Participants will gain a greater understanding of the licensure process, the rules and requirements, and the challenges facing pre-licensees working toward licensure.

    Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

    1. Identify the requirements for counting hours toward licensure as an MFT
    2. State the number of hours and the number of weeks of supervised experience pre-licensees are required to meet
    3. Identify the requirements under the “new” 90-day rule to count post-degree hours
    4. Identify appropriate work settings and common supervision and labor issues that arise in the employment of pre-licensees

    Presenter

Kristin Roscoe, EsqKristin W. Roscoe, Esq., CAMFT Staff Attorney, takes CAMFT member phone calls regarding law and ethics issues and contributes articles on those subjects to The Therapist. Before joining CAMFT’s legal team, Kristin represented healthcare systems and professionals in professional negligence litigation at La Follette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames. Kristin received her B.A. from The College of Wooster in 2006 and graduated from The American University Washington College of Law with her J.D. in 2012.

CEs may be earned upon payment of a nonrefundable $10 admin fee. Attendance at the live event and completion of the evaluation qualifies for 3 CEs. Instructions for completing the course evaluation will be emailed within three business days after the event to those who have paid the admin fee and attended in full.

PLEASE NOTE: This event will be recorded by State CAMFT. By registering for this event you are consenting to a recording being made which may include your voice and/or image.

Upon signing up here at Marin CAMFT, you will receive an email from us with instructions for accessing the Zoom on the day of the event.
