Workshop Description:

Are you a therapist who loses sleep over the idea of a negative Yelp review? Does HIPAA totally overwhelm you? Were you forced into an online practice during the pandemic without thinking about it? This course will address the legal and ethical issues that face therapists regarding today’s digital world. Learn what the issues are from a practicing therapist with a matter-of-fact style, and find out how to avoid those issues in your practice.

Cathy Hanville, LCSW, will be discussing all things digital, including how to use the technology in your practice while following legal and ethical standards.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
  1. Identify the three aspects of a HIPAA Security Risk Analysis.
  2. Describe four different ways that use of technology could risk loss of Protected Health Information and name three techniques to solve these problems.
  3. List six areas of consideration related to a therapist’s use of social media.

Presenters:

Cathy HanvilleCathy Hanville, LCSW, has been in private practice since 2001. She specializes in working with anxiety and gender diversity. She is an EMDRIA Consultant and is EMDRIA Certified in EMDR.
