This event is offered by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (California state CAMFT), with registration available through our Marin CAMFT chapter. This event is free to all pre-licensed trainees and associates whether Marin CAMFT members or not, and to Marin CAMFT members who can receive 2 free CEUs, though advance registration is required.

Note: Marin CAMFT will be having our standard Friday Free CE event on this same day, May 13th from 12 to 2pm (Expressive Arts Therapy with Danielle Saporta, LMFT). We decided to also offer this pre-licensed event with State CAMFT even though it conflicts with our schedule, because we want to support our pre-licensed community. The Marin CAMFT chapter Friday event will be recorded and made available in our Podcast Library (though without any CE-earning opportunity), in case you're trying to decide which event to sign up for.

Workshop Description:

This presentation is intended to provide an overview of the licensing process for pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy. Topics to be discussed include the marriage and family therapy licensing process; supervised experience requirements for applicants; supervisor qualifications and supervision requirements; licensing examinations; and common employment issues pre-licensees encounter with their supervisors.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  1. Record the number of hours and the number of weeks of supervised experience required
  2. Identify the “options” for counting hours currently available to pre-licensees
  3. Differentiate how to advertise themselves in the various stages of licensing
  4.  Organize their hours by documenting on the correct BBS related forms
  5.  Review their incremental progress toward licensure and decide on their best strategies to take to complete their 3000 hours
