We are looking for new leaders for our chapter in 2025!
Call for Candidates!
Opportunities to Create, Contribute, and Connect
Marin CAMFT has a few openings on the Board of Directors to continue the momentum put in place by our recent leadership teams and we are accepting nominations for the 2025 leadership term.
Many of our current Board members will be continuing on into 2025, however a few are transitioning off. Based on our elections process, candidates may self-nominate for any open position, including those where we have a current member interested in continuing.
Therefore we are looking for a few more people to join the board in these key roles. Marin CAMFT is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization and is an approved chapter of State CAMFT. We have a long history of bringing the Marin community together. Perhaps now is the right time for you to join the volunteer leadership team to see what more we can do. As a volunteer-led organization, we rely on our members for good stewardship of the chapter, so that we may continue to offer quality continuing education and support to our association of colleagues.
Our dynamic programs are drawing participation from within the Marin clinical community and far beyond. It is an exciting time to be part of this community and we would love for you to take on a more prominent role!
Some details:
Board Culture
We take time for check-ins at the beginning of each meeting, as an opportunity for support and connection. We also try to be efficient with our meetings and adjourn early when we are able to get through the business of the day.
Marin CAMFT members can access our Board Meetings page to see agendas and minutes over the past few years, to get a sense of the business that is conducted by the Board.
Here's a quick description of the open positions available. If any of these spark your interest, contact Marin CAMFT President Lauren Ogren at president@marincamft.org
We are running elections for all of these positions, however some have nominations already (from current Board members continuing on). You may self-nominate for any open position. The ones noted as "seeking candidates" will go unfilled if we do not get nominations from our membership.
President-Elect (seeking candidates)
This is a critical role for Marin CAMFT to fill every year as part of our continuity of operations. Please reach out if you would like to learn more.
In your first year, you will be assisting the President in running the chapter in a supporting role, as preparation for your following year where the President-Elect assumes the President position. After the year as President, then this person takes on the role of Past-President, to support the incoming president in their leadership year. Therefore, this is a 3-year expected commitment. As President-Elect, you are next in line to run Board meetings in the event the President cannot attend, and you would occasionally host monthly CE programs which are currently done primarily on Zoom. The President-Elect interfaces with our members and the public through responding to inquiries that come in by email or phone. The President-Elect is also encouraged to participate in CE Committee Meetings in support of programs. Attendance at all full Board meetings and Executive Board meetings is expected.
Treasurer
Our current Treasurer, Nicole Lako, has volunteered to continue on in this role, and so we have a candidate for this position already. However other nominations are also accepted as part of our elections process.
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the organization, and has the support of our paid accountant who handles bookkeeping and tax filings. The Treasurer position is part of the Executive team and so attends the Executive Board meetings and the full Board meetings. As an officer position, the Treasurer works with the President, President-Elect, Past President, and Secretary on key decisions for the chapter. This is a 2-year term.
Membership Director-At-Large (seeking candidates)Our current Membership Director, Jennifer Agostinelli, will be stepping down, however one of our Directors at Large for Pre-Licensed, Ryan Plumb, has stepped up! We have a candidate, and nominations are also open for this position.
This important role manages membership inquiries and handles the review and approval of all pre-licensed membership applications. Attendance at the full board meeting is expected. This is a 2-year term.
Designated for a pre-licensed member of the chapter, the Pre-Licensed DAL helps spearhead all chapter initiatives and programming that serves our pre-licensed members, especially our newly rejuvenated 3,000-Hour Club which currently has great momentum and participation. The 3,000-Hour Club meets every month or so during the academic year. This is a 1-year term, with the option to go up for re-election in subsequent years if interested.
We also are always seeking new members to join our Trauma Response Team, and our Diversity Committee (which is currently inactive but it would be great if there was interest in rebuilding it). If you would like to find out more and learn how to participate, please check their respective pages here on the site.
Feel free to contact any of us if you're interested!
